Friday Evening with the Best in Athletics

Friday evening 30.05.2025 at the Zawisza Stadium in Bydgoszcz was all about top-level athletics, strong emotions and an atmosphere you don’t forget easily. I had the great pleasure of being there with my camera – covering the 7th Irena Szewińska Memorial as a photographer.
Events like this are more than just work for me. It’s the perfect combination of passion for photography and the energy of live sport. Athletics challenges you as a photographer – the speed, the emotion, and those split-second moments that you either catch… or miss.

This year delivered some brilliant performances:
🥇 Natalia Bukowiecka dominated the women’s 400m with a season-best of 50.44s.
🏃‍♂️ Maksymilian Szwed set a new Memorial record in the men’s 400m.
🥇 And Weronika Lizakowska impressed with a powerful finish to win the women’s 1500m against strong international rivals.

The lighting and atmosphere on the stadium were perfect for shooting. I focused on capturing not only the action, but also the quiet moments: the tension before the start, the relief at the finish, and the connection between athletes and the crowd. Being part of the Irena Szewińska Memorial was a real honour. It’s always inspiring to document an event that celebrates world-class sport and human stories – through the lens.
